Hey
Thanks for this post... i have been wondering about whether I have made the right choice to pursue a PhD part-time (while being a full-time teacher) and the question of happiness (now or in the future) is very very important...it maybe hard, strenuous, tiring, but in the end, it is all about whether or not you think it will bring you happiness. Surely one could be doing other things, but it is all about the inner self.
Thanks again.

Looks very good, but I'm not sure yet whether you are gonna tackle it seriously or will be informal. Anyway, I can't wait for the next post.
Who needs Harry Potter when real life is much more interesting?

Some reflections on the purpose of doctoral studies - that sounds interesting, at least from my subjective point of view.

Although at first glance the old philosophers might not appear very similar to the academic staff of today, I believe strolling around, having meetings and coffee breaks was just as important part of being a philosopher back in the days as it is for a modern professor.

I bet that although we have the impression that the Greek heroes were spending all of their time on mortal discussions in public fora, spiced with a bit of homoerotic activities, most of the time they were just hanging out and chatting up big shots for continued funding.
